Query by Sue: How well does Verizon Wireless broadband work?
I reside in the country and my only options for internet are Verizon wireless broadband or Hughes net satellite net. I’m leaning toward Verizon appropriate now. I get decent Verizon cell telephone reception (2 bars inside) and I am usually a quite light user, no gaming or music downloading but I do stream video. I was questioning if anyone could give me comments on either of these options.

Answer by Ben Dover
I handle cell phone and broadband cards for the company I perform for, and they use Verizon exclusively. As long as you have sufficient cell telephone signal, it operates properly. We are a government account, and have about one hundred folks in the field employing Verizon broadband for world wide web and VPN access.

The WRP 400 is a slice of heaven in router form., March 5, 2009

I read the previous review. I’m the second. I’ve owned many Linksys routers and wireless access points, as well as hubs. This is my favorite so far. It doesn’t get released in stores until late summer/early fall 2009. The gentlemen before me wrote about how it’s not compatible with Vonage. That’s true. BECAUSE it’s a VOIP router in itself. I know that it’s used by a company called Elevate Comm that launches in April (a month from now). That’s how I got it. Great router, great price, easy to use and setup, as well as great range. I use it it my house, which is 12000 square feet, and I get signal everywhere. Which is better than I can say about my netgear routers.

I can’t comment on how the product works; I had bought it to use with my Vonage service… only to find that Vonage doesn’t work with this router. I found it odd that Linksys customer support (who spent a significant amount of time trying to help me with the problem) was not aware of this. So, I hope this will help prevent others from making the same mistake and having to return the router, as I did.

    Hi N. Mckiernan,
Sorry to hear about your experience! We looked into the compatibility issue you mention, and it appears only Vonage-branded equipment works with the Vonage service.

    Thanks for your comments!

  5. verzon is not providing good service

  6. Verizon works, but make sure you are in 3g coverage, if your not, it will not work well. Although you likely are in coverage.

The speed is from what I have seen usually over 1 mbit, which is better than dial-up. However the usage cap is 5GB per month, so like you said, you have to use it lightly, and use video very lightly. Other than that, people seem to like it compared to satellite internet, and definitely compared to dial-up.

This is just what I have observed from reading reviews, and people comments.
