Question by Chel: Can you help me find a durable long lasting cell phone?
I have a huge problem with breaking cell phones, I think I’m cursed. (knock on wood) Anyway, I dropped my most recent phone into the toilet and I’m lucky that it’s still half functional. But I need a phone that can handle being dropped over and over again. Aesthetics wise, i really prefer QWERTYs. Oh yah, I have AT&T so I don’t know how important that is.

To sum it up I’m looking for a sturdy AT&T phone with a QWERTY keyboard.

Thanks!

Try a Nokia brand phone. Those things are indestructible.

My husband is a plumber and hard on phones. He loves this phone. He’s had all the previous version and I hope they continue to make these phones

    No

  2. if ou do that it is no longer water resistant

  3. Same here….I just clipped the little pin….works great.

  4. you can password lock the camera and it will make it so the button wont
activate the camera instead it will make you have to type in a password to
use the camera at all which some might find annoying but it stops the
    problem without damaging the phone

  5. we need a durable phone. We dont need a keybord or the ablility to check
facebook and a camera is really unessary but dummy buttons are for dummys
and this engineer either screwed up or some idiot from markets left
something in the punchbowl! I was worried about the water issue with
removing the button. BUT! since you let me know thats our only
    choice…….

  6. Thanks for the video. This is for the AT&T Samsung Rugby 2 and you can’t
turn this PTT button off anywhere. It does not default to camera, at least
on my phone. It even interferes with bluetooth voice calling if it is
inadvertently pressed while putting it in a holster. I removed the button
and clipped the pin off, then replaced the button. Done. NOW it is the
perfect phone. …… The suggestions from below about how to turn it off
does not exist for my phone.

  7. That’s weird. The Rugby II that I have doesn’t do that. If I hold the PTT
button with the phone closed it just shows me the clock and the missed call
    log.

  8. PTT- stupid feature…just block the data plan and that will do it

  9. You can shut it off. Go to PTT app. Then to PTT setting scroll down to 7 or
    PTT lock . Lol.

  10. ptt is push to talk has nothing to do with camera, turn off the ptt in
    settings.

  11. The PTT button CAN be turned OFF by going to Menu, PTT, PTT Settings, and
you can turn it off from right there.

  12. sorry for all the typos and spelling errors, i am in a rush :)

  13. I removed my button and cut the stem off. As someone posted the tape wont
keep water out. I added a product you can get at marine stores, fyi not all
carry the small tube, it’s called Sika-flex. You can get in black and BAM,
theres your button held in place, when this stuff sets you have to sand it
off. It’s also 100% waterproof hence why use sailors love it. Hope this
helps the rest of you. My phone now has a sold button that is water tight
and looks like its just part of the design. :)

  14. Maybe everyone should email the black pictures that are being taken in our
pockets to samsung’s tech support. They might make a firmware upgrade if
there inboxes are full of pictures. I get about 75 pictures a week on my
phone that are of the inside of my pocket.

  15. Why not get a normal phone and an otterbox case. I do that and when I throw my S3 (in a case) at a wall, its perfectly fine.

  17. Well, they have military grade cell phones. Typically they are ugly flip phones. But we throw those around like…keys. A good 30-40ft at times.

  18. Try an iPhone5 – as well as being long lasting, it is long and girls appreciate that
