Question by Rainne: How to get rid of the apps on the ‘task bar’ on my android cell?
Hi! I have a Samsung Infuse 4G Smartphone (SGH-i997), and I really don’t understand my cell phone, although I’ve had it for about a year and a half or so already, and this is my problem: there is this annoying ‘task bar’ type thing on my phone that travels from each of my little pages and home screens (but is hidden when I open an app) and stays the same. I reaaaaaaaaally dislike the applications that are defaulted and set to appear on the ‘task bar’ and I would like to remove them. The real question here is HOW? I have tried from clicking and dragging to going to the settings. Is there any way to do this without getting an app to do it for me or having my cell phone rooted? Also, my cell phone is updated to the Gingerbread software, and cannot be upgraded any further, that I am aware of.

Anyhow, since I don’t know what the proper name for the ‘task bar’ thing is called, here are some pictures, so hopefully you guys can get an idea of what I’m talking about!

Thanks in advance!! :D

That’s not the task bar. You want to put apps you use most often on that row. You can move those apps by pressing and holding and then dragging them. You can replace those apps with another by clicking, holding and dragging them to that row.

It says Samsung and looks like the OEM battery, but won’t hold a charge more than a couple of hours. The original battery works for 6 to 8 hours under extreme use.

I do not recommend this battery; it seems too cheap, and there is a reason – it holds a charge for less time than the battery I was replacing :(

  4. infuse awesome phone

  5. I’ve had the Infuse for about 2 years now and it has been alright. It still looks brandnew except for the peeling paint that is coming off of it. The screens touchivity is still good and so is the screen itself, the only problem that the phone has is the freezing and force closing that it has sometimes. Also the battery life is fucking crap, a full charge can barely last a day now AND I HARDLY USE MY PHONE.

  6. i got the infuse for my birthday…awesome phone!!

  7. I have infuse and its the best phone in this price range….

  8. Infuse!!!!!!, iphone only has one inconvenient button, the Camera in the infuse is better,(8 megapixels) and the iphone has only 5 megapixels… Just because something is made my apple, being more overpriced, does not at all make it better.

  9. I m having infuse 4g awsum phone only 2 months old brand new condition with headphone and charger

  10. Just the size of the iphone….I wan’t a PHONE not an Ipod touch….

  11. a android costs more
    dummy

  12. The infuse is a piece of garabge. I’ve had it for almost two years now. If freezes a lot, if a single thing is on the screen the whole things starts freaking out and clicking on random apps. The battery life is awful even with the extended battery. There is a reason it was only produced for a few months before being replaced. I’m not saying the iPhone is any better (don’t have one) but the infuse is a piece of crap.

  13. Be a leader not a trend that’s all the iPhone is. The infuse is better in every way. And my friends phone literally can barely cover the screen on the infuse I have

  14. MY INFUSE FACKING Freezed all the time and restarts and eventually after a year it just sits here power cycling until i hit it on a chair then it comes on for 20 minutes….so at this point…….IPHONE 4 IT IS

  15. I’m about to trade my 4s for the samsung tomorrow. is it really that good? lol i’m just so indecisive

  16. infuse 4g is better :-)

  19. Actually that’s not your task bar. Those are app icons set as the primary. I think you can remove some but not all. I think one or two can’t be removed. If you tap the application button( the square with the 4 squares inside) it will take you to your app screen. Next tap the menu button, there should be an option for editing. Tap that. On your app. Screen you should see the icons with little red minus sign in the upper right of the icon. When you see those you can remove the app from the home screen. If you tap the red minus it will delete the app from the phone completely. You want to drag the icon to the trash can. Any icon that dose not have a red minus sign you can not remove it is embedded and part of your Rom (read only memory). Now because android do have virtual keyboards and no real buttons on the home screen so of the icons are set to touch screen they are permanent. For instance if you remove the icon for the app screen I hope that was helpful how will you enter that screen If you remove it? If you delete the phone icon how will you make a call? And so on. Not all the older version OS have customizable home screens where you can remove those icons. The fully customizable android are 4.0 and above.

  20. it’s a “DOCK BAR”. some icons usually cannot be replaced while some other are replaceable.
the easiest way to change it is by installing any launcher like go launcher, adw, tw, etc which can modify homescreen, dock bar(customizable app n icon) and app drawer.
i use go launcher which supports homescreen gestures(setting, operation setting) and icon gestures(press n hold any dockbar icon, choose gesture option) so that i can set gesture like glide up/down homescreen to show/hide dock bar, touch n glide up/down any dock icon to perform certain action like show/hide statusbar. the choice is yours though.
