Question by R. Markk: Which phone should I choose? HELP!?
I’m in the market for a new cell phone, I want a really cool one that has all the features I want, plus, at the same time, makes anyone who sees it quite jealous. I’m a teen in high school so price isn’t too important. I picked out a few, which one should I get? I don’t want a touch screen one and I DON’T want a phone that like everyone has(Alias, iPhone, enV2, Instinct, ect.)

OK Heres the list, help me pick!
Motorola MOTORIZR Z6tv (Verizon Wireless)
LG VX8560 Black – Chocolate 3 (Verizon Wireless)
Samsung SPH-m520 (Sprint)
Sony Ericsson W760a Silver (AT&T)
Pantech Matrix Black (AT&T)

Phone will be used for taking/sending pix, calls, and somewhat heavy texts(2000 a month, about).
Phone needs to be reliable and have good battery life.
I’ve been threw like 100 phones in the past 5 years, all the phone companies have good service around me, I just need to find a good phone.

Please help!
Thanks! =]

A high quality, universal 5 Volt Charger, not just for LG Phones, August 4, 2011
    By

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

The same model charger came with my LG cell phone, which I purchased over two years ago. So I’ve used this model charger for more than two years. I liked it so much that I bought four more to replace the chargers that other family members are using for their cell phones, iPods and MP3 players. There are several features that make this one of the best on the market.

    1) The cable that’s supplied with the charger is not hard wired into the charger, but connects to the charger through a standard USB Type A connector.

    2) At the other end, the cable includes a micro-USB connector, which is becoming the standard connector for the majority of cells phones, and is useful with other cell phone brands besides LG.

    3) The cable is also a full USB cable, having both power and data lines, so you can unplug the cable from the charger, and use it to transfer data (pictures, music, etc.) between your cell phone and your computer (some chargers with removable USB cables only have the power line, but no data line).

    4) Because the charger body includes a USB Type A receptacle, you can plug other 5 Volt devices into this charger; for example, an iPOD can be charged by simply plugging the USB connector at one end of the iPOD cable into the charger. I have also used this to charge my Sony Walkman MP3 player, which also has a USB Type A connector at one end of the Walkman cable.

    5) In general, this is a well made, high quality and universal 5 Volt charger.

Some cables have poor quality micro-USB connectors, August 9, 2012
    By

I purchased this product through Amazon (from Seller1ON1) to power a variety of devices, including an HTC cell phone, all which require power from a micro-USB cable.

Exclusive of the cables, the five chargers I purchased all worked well and were within their stated specification. They are rated at 5.1V and 0.7A. For each, I measured their output at 5.1V open circuit, 5.0 to 5.05V at 700 to 830 mA, and dropping to 4.1-4.4 V at about 850mA. While many low cost chargers sold here are counterfeit items, these chargers (at least the ones I got) are not, they are the real thing.

However, some of the cables provided were not reliable. The cable that’s supplied with the charger (LG cable part number SGDY0014303) connects to the charger using a standard USB Type A connector at one end, and at the other end connects to the phone using a micro-USB connector, which is fast becoming the standard for cell phone power.

I purchased five sets of chargers and cables, and found that three of the five cables were bad. Let me describe the bad ones:

I haven’t used the cables with an LG phone, but using them with several other devices and phones I found that the micro-USB connector was often intermittent. There is a fair amount of play when the connector is plugged in, and if it wiggles just a little bit the power connection is lost.

I microscopically compared that male micro-USB connector with others that I have on better cables. See the photo I posted of both good and bad connectors.

The better cables have connectors that are far superior. The connector on the three bad SGDY0014303 cables have metal contacts that have very little compliance so that only when the connector is plugged into the receptical perfectly does it make a good connection. If the array of metal contacts are not perfectly coplanar with the corresponding contacts in the receptical, contact is easily lost. Further, the hole in the connector was a bit too large, making the connector fit loosely. When I examine the micro-USB male connectors of the other cables I have, I see that their contacts are made of a much larger bent metal spring that is more forgiving of misalignment — it continues to make contact no matter how much the connector is wiggled in the receptical, and the connection is much tighter overall.

I find that when I charge my HTC phone using the bad cables, I have to be very careful to make sure the connector is actually making contact, and adjust it if it is not, so the phone charges.

The other two cables are constructed a little differently, and work fine. All five cables are marked identically, with LG logos that look the same. Further, the wire gauge and the plastic housing material looks the same. Even so, examining the connectors under a microscope shows that I actually received three differently designed micro-USB connectors. Two of the designs work well, but the third design, present on three cables, is faulty by design.

For me, this charger is a great deal, but beware of unreliable cables!

Works with LG Optimus V, April 11, 2011

Data cable and charger both work with my LG Optimus V. Not all USB cables work with the phone when linked to a computer so I was pleased this did. Looks exactly like what came with my phone.

Update: This also works with the HTC EVO V 3d 4g for Virgin mobile. (if you still have the optimus consider upgrading for $300. Get a battery saver + task killer app if you do. 16 or 32 gig sd memory cards can also be found on amazon for another good upgrade.)

  11. look at my blog which is blogdotwirelesszonedotcom. Obviously the dot’s are
actual .’s (YouTube doesn’t allow link posting) Anyway, Look at either of
the last two Wake Up Wednesday articles. That is potentially what its going
    to look like.

  12. Should I get this phone, or the nokia Intrigue? Which phone has a nicer
    keypad for texting?

  13. Well yes it does shut off randomly nd freezes. But mine receives all text .
not sure about calls. but other then that its good.

  14. Of the two, I would pick the Choc 3 but have you considered the enV3? You
are asking about texting and the new enV’s are texter’s dreams phones.

  15. yes, they do light up.

  16. Uh Oh.Then you might not be happy about the latest. Its going to be the
Chocolate Touch. VX8575. I just don’t know if its going to be a flip or

  20. Don’t get a sony or a motorola bad battery life.

  21. If your a teen and you have been through 100 phones in the past 5 years, then I’m sorry I don’t think your ready for another cell phone.

  22. I have a few friends with the Alias… DONT GET IT! They all regret getting it. It gets messed up easily.
