Great keyboard… the touchscreen? Not so much,
I really like this phone for texting, but the touchscreen is very difficult to use. When I am trying to scroll through my contact list, it is very bad at figuring out where I’m scrolling or clicking. And for some reason I can only ever scroll when holding the phone with my left hand. When I have the phone in my right hand, it does not recognize any thumb swipes whatsoever. I guess it must have to do with how the swiping algorithm is programmed. It’s a good solid phone for a very reasonable price, but if I had it to do over again I would not buy this phone.

Its a man in the middle attack. He creates a tower that cellphones recognize as a legitimate tower. There is a range, look at the two yagi antennas set up. GSM operates around the 900Mhz frequency. Maybe 800 I forget, but the range is still limited to the amount of watts being pushed through the antenna’s. It’s similar to being on a wifi network and using something like arp poisoning to become “the host”. This is why high powered amplifiers are generally banned in most countries.

People are overlooking the simple.. the phone now talks via his GSM, and if his asterisk has outbound trunks, the person’s mobile would use it. Thus if they make a call, it goes via his GSM and network VOIP trunk and he can listen in… of course inbound calls to the mobile wouldn’t come via this hijack.
Right. He can pick up the TIMSI’s and the IMSI’s, and can probably pick up digital serial’s like SMS and MAYBE even MMS, but he won’t get audio due to the A51 encryptions, unless he has the correct algorithms to break it.

This says intercepts cell phone calls. I can see him getting the GSM and broadcasting on it, and I can see him hearing the broadcast but he would need to encrypt it to understand it. Because regardless of what he intercepts he can understand it do to the encryption. Am I correct?
